Martello's Fun Palace “Oscar” - 8 March 2008

A party from Martello will attend a gala evening in the Disney Hotel in Anaheim, Los Angeles where ‘Cosmos at the Castle’, in Cork, will be presented with a THEA Award for ‘Outstanding Achievement in Themed Attraction Design’ from TEA, the world body for themed attraction designers.
Martello is the first Irish design company to ever design a THEA winning project - the fun-park industry’s equivalent of an Oscar.

 

Irish Aid Centre opened by both Ahernes - 22 January 2007

The Taoiseach Bertie Aherne and the Foreign Minister Dermot Aherne jointly opened the Irish Aid Centre in Dublin’s O’Connell St. Martello collaborated with award winning architect Tom de Paor to create this strikingly modern centre to raise awareness of Irish efforts to assist the developing World.

 

New Appointments Boost Design Team - 20 December 2007

During 2007 Martello was strengthened by a number of talented new designers. Maryann Jardine has joined Martello’s New Media Design team. Architect Caroline Kiernan is working with Mark Leslie on spatial design. Joanne Byrne has already made an outstanding contribution with the graphic design at ‘Cosmos’ and ‘Strangers to Citizens’.

 

Digital Media Awards Short List - 14 December 2007

Martello have been short-listed for no less than four Digital Media Awards for 2007 to be presented by Minister for Trade and Enterprise Michael Martin at a gala dinner on February 7th 2008.
Cosmos at the Castle has been nominated for ‘Best Animation’ and as ‘Best Educational Project’. It goes head to head in this category against Martello’s WB Yeats Exhibition in the National Library which has also been nominated for as ‘Best Business to Consumer’ project.

 

The Irish Contribution to Europe - 11 December 2007

Arts and Culture Minister Seamus Brennan opened the Martello’s ‘Strangers to Citizens – The Irish in Europe’ exhibition in the National Library’s Heraldic Museum. The exhibition is timed to commemorate the 400th Anniversary of the flight of the Wild Geese to Europe.

 

British Recognition of Irish Interpretative Design - 26 November 2007

The AHI (British Association for Heritage Interpretation) held its annual ‘Interpret Britain and Ireland Awards’ at the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Centre on Monday 26th November 2007.
This was the first time in its 21-year history that the AHI have held this event outside of Great Britain. This was in recognition that two of the three winners were Irish projects, and that Martello Media had submitted an AHI award-winning project for an unprecedented fifth year in a row.
Ten projects from throughout Great Britain were highly commended, but the three winners were:- The Cliffs of Moher Experience by Martello, The Foynes Flying Boat Museum by Jack Harrison Kelvingrove Museum in Glasgow, by Event

Martello Anniversary - July 2006

Martello Media's 20th Anniversary (1986-2006) will be celebrated at a reception in the National Library of Ireland on August 3rd.

Guests will be able to view Martello's latest exhibition Yeats: The Life and Works of W B Yeats.
